Sweet Apple French Toast

1 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon rum flavoring
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup Meadow Brook Milk
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 eggs
pinch of salt
1/2 cup applesauce
8 to 10 slices French bread (1/2" thick)
1/4 cup sugar
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease nonstick backing sheet with butter.
Press brown sugar through a strainer to remove lumps; sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar evenly over baking sheet. Whisk Meadow Brook milk, eggs, applesauce, rum flavoring, vanilla, nutmeg and salt in shallow bowl.
Dip bread slices until thoroughly moistened. Place on baking sheet and sprinkle with remaining brown sugar.
Bake for about 20 minutes, turning once, until the toast is lightly browned and sugar is caramelized.
Serve on warm plates with syrup and fruit garnish.
This recipe uses Meadow Brook Whole Milk.
